Chenies Spring Walk and Tiptoe Through the Tulips
Bank Holiday Monday 7th May
Undeterred by the wet weather, 315 walkers took part in this year’s Chenies Spring Walk. So far with sponsorship yet to come, the event has raised £2200 towards the Scanner Appeal.
The day started with a hint of sunshine but soon developed into a typical wet Bank Holiday. But our walkers strode ahead none the less, many regulars joined us again and it was lovely to see lots of new participants this year.
At registration, everyone was treated to an apple – donated by Mr and Mrs Marsh and a Nature Valley Health Bar, donated by General Mills. On completing the route many walkers took advantage of their free entry into Chenies Manor Tulip Gardens and got to sample the delicious home made cakes too!
Our volunteer marshals and ladies at registration were superb ensuring everything ran smoothly on the day.
We’re already planning next year’s Chenies Spring Walk – keep a watchful eye here so you don’t miss out on the updates to follow.

Make it a Christmas to remember!
Christmas is a time for giving and we’d like you to help us give our patients the best chance of a healthier tomorrow.
There are so many ways you can support us and raise funds during the festive season. Here’s a few ideas to get you started
- Get in the festive mood with a dress down day (or dress up day!) at your workplace, school or college. Ask people to pay to take part in the fun.
- Do you and your work colleagues feel giving each other a Christmas card is not for you? Then why not put the money you would have spent on cards into a collecting tin and raise funds for the Scanner Appeal.
- You can raise money for us – at no cost to you – every time you shop online with Give as you Live. Brands including Play.com, John Lewis and Expedia have signed up to donate to us when you discover Give as you Live.
- Hold a Mince Pie & Coffee Morning – why not bake your own mince pies, add some hot drinks and hold your coffee morning anywhere, at home, at work, at school, your local church, community centre or social group.
- Costume contest - Throw a party, sell some tickets, lay on some food and ask everyone to attend. A costume contest is a fun way to raise funds. And you get to use that outfit you’ve wanted to wear for ages!
- Choirs – if you belong to a choir, why not sing a few carols to raise funds for us, click here to read more about Harrow Apollo Male Choir who have supported us for many years.
